More Change To Wonder About

I spent 20 years in the Navy. I loved and hated it as much as anything I can remember. Loved it for the adventure, people and experience; hated it for the vast amount of time away from home, paltry pay and the people I had to work with (double edged sword!).

One thing I will say, is that I support our men and women 100%. I will defend their actions to my last breath. For those who criticize them, I would say spend a bit of time in the service members'  shoes. You may gain some insight as to why they think the way that they do.

I have said repeatedly that I have no issue with gays. But I am sorry, I find it reprehensible that our new President-elect has marked for his next Secretary of the Navy an openly gay man. From there, the signal is clear that the walls are about to come down regarding the military's don't ask, don't tell policy.

Outsiders just do not get it. For one thing, getting mixed crews brought about a big problem on surface ships. Sailors found a myriad of ways to get alone time with their favorite shipmate. It caused major hassles when they were caught, or worse, became pregnant. Senior members were forced to devise rules and guidelines that inhibited sailors of the opposite sex from being alone with one another. This was not always possible, but I bore witness to just what was required to achieve this.

Adding into the mix, now, gay members, the problem rises even further. And though I hate to say it, a military soldier, sailor or airmen does not want to constantly look over their shoulder and wonder if their shipmate is eyeing them sexually. The same argument that reversed Clinton's attempt still holds true today: there is a vast morale concern here. And like I said if you are on the outside, you just cannot understand our train of thought.

So, with that said, if this man, Bill White, gets the nod and is confirmed, our military is going to be put under a far greater strain from this issue than it gets from the continued conflict in the Middle East. Pry for our brothers and sisters in harms way. Life just may be about to inflict the Change We Deserve.

The revolution is at hand. Will you be a leader or a follower?

  1. Also, look at the security risks he poses. Male homosexuals, basically, are sex addicts, imo. The # of partners they have and the anonymous sex they have with strangers in bath houses, rest stops, etc. is pandemic. That makes them security risks who may potentially divulge top secret truths because of an addiction's power to cause them to release state secrets.

That will be nice when (potentially) our enemies get our info from the top, huh?

    Grace.

  2. OK, I'm tired of seeing everything Judeo Christian be deconstructed. I'm tired of seeing civilization be ripped apart at the seams to become, well, the Roman Empire. This same parallel happened in the Roman Empire, as well. Just a postnote... because it's historically true that the people became so "high on themselves" in their wealth and grandeur, that they just kept wanting to "tear down" taboos and pursue greater and greater "liberty" in relation to moral character like "sexual preferences" and behavior. They came undone... and so did the Roman Empire.

    Just a post note.

    Grace.
